Welcome 1 Year, 5 Months ago
Welcome to the Karma2 Forums. This is an area where everyone can discuss the Karma2 component, and any modifications they have made to the component.

The idea behind the component is that it is community contributed. That is i have set a _base_ component which works with some of the Joomla components, and each person with some knowledge can add onto the component. If you then post back to the forums your modifications i will put those in the Downloads Section so that others can also use those downloads.

I believe this is one of the main things missing to the community. A component that encourages users to contribute to the community, which can then be used to redeem for Awards, Competitions, Products and more.

Thanks to everyone and here is hoping we can have this component continue to grow and grow.

Hi,
I am glad you set up this site for the component, I believe it was much needed and I believe once the component becomes more widespread, more people will begin to use it. I would be glad to contribute what I can, and help out as much as possible.

It would be terrific if the ParaInvite functionality could display a de_script_ion in the Points Log. I tried to integrate the code in the ParaInvite file and failed horribly.

By modifications, do you mean modifications to the component/module itself, or the files that may have the code integrated into it as well?
If so, I will post all the integration I've done with Karma2 and other components (such as the ones I listed on the Joomla forums). I was hoping to get other people to help or at least respond to that particular post, but it didn't turn out that way. The only modification I have for the Karma2 component itself is the extra Customs that I added, so if you think that should be posted, I will do so.

I had actually thought about submitting the component to JED but didn't know if I had the permission, needed the original owner's permission, etc. so I'm glad you did that as well, and that will probably help achieve more notoriety for it.

Hi Monique,

Thanks for signing up to the site. And its great to see the exposure the component is getting, hopefully with everyone working on it we can help it grow and fill the gap in Joomla that is lack of Community rewards for participation.

In terms of the site, what i was thinking was post any modifications to the actual component / module / mambot, as well as modifications to any of the components it integrates with as well if applicable. In some cases it might be easier to post in the forums a How - To - Modify thread for each component which it can be integrated with.

Like Original Code:

Modified Code:

Either way it should be fine.

I noticed you signed up for this site, so what i might do is give you write access to docman as well, so that if you have anything you want to upload we can do so, If thats okay, or i can upload either way.

I guess with the mambots it might be easier to re-package them and upload them, with a listing in the Document that references that file saying this version works with the following components x y z.

Thanks again - Travis Hale.

I am glad someone has taken initiative to develop most waiting component for any Community _base_d websites.

This karma system (honoring awards) will definitely attract thousands of joomla web masters because of its inherit potential.

I am not php/html expert otherwise I would have help to develop this component. Still I will try my best to help this development in all means.

Great.. all kind wishes to the Travis Hale.

Hi Travis,
Access to Docman would be fine.
I also had someone create a custom component to add alongside Karma2 to display the Points in a different fashion, because I did not like the original module. This component shows it much like the module, but without the pluses for added points, and it displays the time stamp. It would only need to be rewritten to allow a user to display it in the right table, as I display my jos_karma_points_log in a different table. My reasoning for this is that I add usernames in my altered table after copying the original data from jos_karma_points_log. As posted on the Joomla forum, I was also successful in adding additional customs, so I can contribute that as well. All modifications to components that have the add/remove points call can be contributed too if necessary. I am glad the component made it into JED, I hope it can gain great exposure, and that it can be turned into something that's even better than it is now. I seriously wish I could enable it to work for Fireboard forum replies. I was successful at implementing the code, but it was a glitch that would add points even though the post hadn't been submitted, so I'll be trying again sometime in the future.

I'm working on a website which is _base_d on Joomla and Community Builder and would love to use Karma2 in ways that have not yet been developed, I like the initiative behind this site to get Karma2 developed.

Wish list
Add and remove points from users from Administration
Points History/Log from Administration
Integration with VirtuMart (to redeem items from VM)

Monique, I believe you can easily modify the module to have it display however you wish.
